My Love
Filed Under Memoir | 2 Comments
Marilyn and I celebrated our 19′th wedding anniversary on June 17′th. 19 years. Since 1989.
It only seemed like yesterday that I was pressing my face up against the window in my dining room to get a glimps of her watering her flowers across the street. You see, most normal people would water flowers by either setting up a sprinkler, or if they were to do it with the hose, to turn the hose on the flowers. Point is to get the job done as fast as possible.
Marilyn on the other-hand would turn on the water so that it would just be a trickle. She would then go to a flower and water only that one. Then the next. So on and so forth. Now me being the guy I am, I thought she was doing this so that I would notice her. It always seemed to me that she would go out and water soon after I would get home from work. My thinking was that she wanted me.

I got a call from my ex girlfriend while I was at work at Chucks Shoe Repair. It was about 2 in the afternoon, and I had been at work for about an hour. I normally answer the phone, but I was working at the heel machine putting heels on a pair of wing tips. Since Domingo was the closest and he picked up the phone.
Domingo yelled “Hey Mark, some chick is on the phone for you. Say’s it’s important”.
I yelled back that I would be there in a minute, that I was finishing up on the right shoe.
The phone is towards the front of the store and the heeling machine is in the opposite corner of the store. In order to get to the phone from where I was, I had to walk right past Chuck and Domingo.
