I have it made. Marilyn loves me so much. Every morning she makes me coffee and has it ready when I wake up. If I’m not working that day, all I need to do is just push the start button on the coffee maker. She does not drink coffee (hates the stuff), but she makes a real good pot of coffee.
This morning when I got up, there was a note by the coffee maker “Just Push Start”.

So I did.

After about a 5 minute brew time, I’m pretty well jonesing for some coffee. I went back into the kitchen, and got my coffee cup. I grabbed the coffee pot and started to pour my coffee.

Hmmm. This looks a little different. It looks very weak. What? It’s just water. O great, the damn coffee maker is broke. If you have to have coffee in the morning before you can function you know that this is the end of the world when a coffee maker breaks.

I open the top of the coffee maker to see if I can see anything wrong.

O Crap.

There’s no coffee in the top. You can’t make coffee with no coffee grounds. All you get is hot water. And that is what I got.

I call Marilyn, thinking that maybe she’s pulling a joke on me this morning. She told me that she “forgot”, but I’m thinking that she wanted to start out the morning on a fun note.

RussellNow that you’re an adult, you can look forward to bills, mortgage, car payment, insurance, marriage, kids, and me turning out to be exactly like Grandpa.

How’s it feel to finally be an adult?

Yea, I thought so. I know how you feel.

We love you anyway.

Happy 18′th Birthday.

The GraduateThe Graduate. After 13 long grueling years, he has finally made it. The graduation ceremony was supposed to be held outside at Falon Field, however Mother Nature had other things on her mind. It rained. And it was windy. And it was hot. So, the powers that be decided to move the ceremony to the Performing Arts Center, where it was nice and air conditioned. After graduation, all the graduates went to Grad Bash. I’ll have Russell expand on that later.

Smart Boy - I'm proud of himLast night was Senior Awards night at Paw Paw High School. Russell was presented with a Four Year Academic Honor Award. In order to get that award, you needed to be on the Honor Roll (3.5 GPA or above) for 7 consecutive semesters. That’s Freshman year, Sophomore year, Junior year and Senior year. What an accomplishment.

Russell’s had a wonderful and accomplished High School career. He lettered in Cross Country 3 years in a row. He was Captain of the Cross Country team his Junior and Senior year. Although to be fair, he was only in Cross Country for 3 years. Russell received the “Most Valuable Runner” his senior year in Cross Country. Russell also lettered 3 years in track, and became the first person in 7 years to get below 11 minutes (a 10:56) in the 3200 meters in track this year.

I know Russell is going to succeed in what ever career path he chooses, because that is just the way he is. I’m very proud of him.
